Hello, my name is

Jay Matthew.

I design & build for the web.

I love to imagine beautiful designs and make them come alive on the web. I learn every day — personal projects or jobs. I am currently learning more skills to advance myself & create more.

:// About Me

I started my tech career in Abuja, Nigeria. I was studying computer science at Imo state University then.

Passion for design

I love design. I love to look at things differently, from typography to colors to other elements that make up a powerful project. I love to see how best I can arrange them to look clean and well laid out from a glance.

Passion for web

I first started web design in 2015 and loved it because now I can design and bring my designs to life using code & that was amazing. The habit of staying awake all night to achieve this became a thing.

Working with WordPress

I heard of WordPress a while back but never did anything with it until 2017 during my university IT. I found that I could create beautiful and functioning web masterpieces using WordPress which became a game changer.

Working with XD

Adobe XD is an experience design software for creating beautiful web & mobile prototypes. In 2017 I started using XD for jobs somewhat consistently - I did start. I used Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop earlier, but XD makes designing and sharing prototypes easier.

My Work Flow

I enjoy an organized system of working so I created a flow to get the most out of each work.

Expand Flow

The process I follow to get work done.

01. Preparing

Here I mostly ask questions, talk with my clients about what they want, pitch in my input from a professional standpoint & work towards an agreement. When this is a success, I can deliver a product that both parties are happy with.

02. Design

After a general understanding of a client's needs, I can start designing the project. In case of a big project, I will usually begin by wireframing — which is (creating a skeletal structure of the main design). Then I can share this design with my client. When we have an agreement, I go up to the visual design. Here is where I will add details and make it come alive.

03. Development

After the design is completed & accepted by my client, I move on to the development stage. Here I install WordPress (either locally or live install) and all the plugins needed for the job. Immediately, I will start creating the pages and send preview links to my clients to follow the process. It makes it easy to get feedback for me and assures my client that they get their work done.

04. Checks and Balance

After the design and functions conclude, I will send a link to my client to review the work — We will look for errors and edit any necessary details to make the project perfect. After a final check, I will put the project live and finish with the core web vital touch.

FAQs

I often get asked the same questions.

Expand Questions

I’ve put the most common in this section.

Can I edit the project by myself?

Yes! This point makes me stand out from other people who build web projects. Since I use a flexible process, It is easy to edit almost everything.

How much do you charge per project?

I accept projects that start at (250,000 nairas or $570). The final price for the project depends on your needs, design, and functionality. Let me know what you are looking for via inquiry.

Who owns the project when completed?

You. I don’t own anything of the website. If you desire, I can give you full admin rights, so you can even delete me. You pay for the website, so it’s your property. The only thing that I want is to put the website in my portfolio if I want to.

How long does it take to finish a project?

It depends on the type of web project, the number of functions, and the number of previews that will go in. But usually, it takes approximately 2-3 months, except on special requests, then I can work with the deadline.
